VH-JSG  Auster J5G-180  Autocar                                 (c/n  3173)

                                 

                                        This was the former VH-WWB (and VH-RAD before that) which had come to grief in a crash at
                                        Yallunda Flat in 1965.  It lay dormant for several decades until around 1990 when it completed a
                                        marathon restoration (reputed to cost some A$150,000 - and that didn't include the 180 h.p. Lyco-
                                        ming O-360 engine!).  Certainly very pretty now as seen in the contemporary (2008) shot by Phil
                                        Vabre above, although J5Gs without a Blackburn Cirrus Major up front, don't "look quite right" to
                                        me!.
