                                     What a great lumbering thing the Vildebeest was.    Some 260 were built and served in virtually
                                     all RAF theatres of operation.   Some were used against the Japanese in Malaya at the end of
                                     1941.    The RNZAF acquired 99 of them from 1935 onwards.   As can be seen from the above
                                      image, its main role was that of a torpedo bomber.   The Mk III had a third seat for an observer.
