Short SA.4 Sperrin   VX158

The Sperrin was an experimental design designed to develop a strategic bomber, perhaps in the
vein of the Boeing B-47 or Russian Tupolov Bear.   The aircraft had four Roll Royce Avon
RA.2 engines mounted one above the other in two nacelles.  Although the project was eventually
cancelled by the Ministry of Supply, the two prototypes did provide valuable data which was later
used in good  in what would become the V-bombers.
