Republic YP-43

This is probably one of the 13 YP-43s built.   Almost indistinguishable from the Seversky XP-41,
the P-43, named Lancer, had a turbosupercharged Pratt & Whitney R-1830-47 rated at 1,200 h.p.
at 25,000'.  It was the true predecessor of the mighty P-47.   Fifty-four Lancers were delivered in
1941, and a further 152 were modified to carry cameras whilst photo-rec squadrons awaited delivery
of their F-5 Lightnings.   125 were built under Lend-Lease and destined for China, although not all of
them made it to the Far East.
