Hawker Horsley     S1452

The Horsley was built to Air Ministry Spec 26/23 and beat out, in fact, the Bristol Berkeley, the
Westland Yeovil and the Handley Page Handcross for the honors in receiving a production con-
tract.  The Spec originally called for a two seat bomber capable of hauling a 500 lb bomb or tor-
pedo for 1,200 miles, although production Horsleys were often called on to load a 1,500 lb bomb
or torpedo over shorter ranges.. Since the example above is carrying an "S" serial number I assume
that  it was a Fleet Air Arm torpedo bomber and may have originally been on floats.
