                                     That only basic difference between a Vampire and an early Venom was the development of a new
                                     wing, tip tanks, and the substitution of a D.H. Ghost in lieu of a Goblin engine on the latter machine.
                                     VV612 was the prototype Venom and was, in fact, built as a Vampire FB.5 which was then modi-
                                     fied into the Venom prototype, as seen above.   The Venom would later change its appearance
                                     appreciably when the NF (night fighter) series was developed, incorporating a longer radar nose
                                     and also dorsal fairings on the twin boom fins.
