Boeing XTB-1  A-7024

Only three TB-1s were built.  The prototype seen above was augmented with two production air-
craft.   It was a 1927 design for a US Navy torpedo bomber which could be either carrier or shore
based.   When fitted with wheels, the aircraft had an odd four-main-wheel arrangement, each leg
having two wheels in parallel (required for the weight of the centrally slung torpedo).  Power was
supplied by a 730 h.p. Packard 3A-2500 water cooled engine.    Note bombardier's window for-
                                   ward of the leading edge.
