Armstrong Whitworth
A.W. 35 Scimitar Norwegian Army Air Force

The Scimitar single-seat fighter was a
development of the A.W.16. Note odd spinner arrange-
ment to the 735 hp Armstrong Siddeley Panther engine. The two
prototypes were tested at the
A
&AEE at Martlesham Heath at the end of 1935. Only four
production machines were manu-
factured
and these were delivered to the Norwegian Army Air Force.
The second prototype
was in
existence until about 1958 at the A.W. factory and then, incredibly,
scrapped!
