Armstrong Whitworth A.W. 35 Scimitar     Norwegian Army Air Force

                                 

                                      The Scimitar single-seat fighter was a development of the A.W.16.  Note odd spinner arrange-
                                      ment to the 735 hp Armstrong Siddeley Panther engine. The two prototypes were tested at the
                                      A &AEE at Martlesham Heath at the end of 1935.  Only four production machines were manu-
                                      factured and these were delivered to the Norwegian Army Air Force.   The second prototype
                                      was in existence until about 1958 at the A.W. factory and then, incredibly, scrapped!
