CR-AAE  de Havilland D.H.89A Dragon Rapide                (c/n  6362)

                                

                                     DETA in Mozambique operated half a dozen Rapides (plus one D.H.90 Dragonfly) on local
                                     routes within the Portugese possession in the 1940s and 50s.  This shot, from the John Heggblom
                                     collection, was taken by his father, the late "Connie" Heggblom in situ in the colony in 1953.
                                     Named 'Beira' (after the capital) at the time, the aircraft had previously carried the name
                                     "Inhambane".
