CF-BIM      Stinson SR-9FM                 (c/n  5729)

                                             

                                                 This Stinson was imported new in 1938 for McIntyre Porcupine Mines.  It then went to Ontario
                                                 Provincial Air Services.    In 1949 it was purchased by Northland Aviation Company of Timmins,
                                                 Ontario in whose markings it is seen here, probably at their base in South Porcupine. Walter Wolfe
                                                 advises that the Stinson was sold off after the death of his grandfather (founder of Northland), and
                                                 it wound up in Yellowknife.  It is still current and is owned by Cowboy Air Services Ltd of Sherwood
                                                 Park, Alberta.  I am indebted to Walter for the image (below) taken from a color slide of this classic
                                                 old bird mounted on skis.
