Wright Airlines    Convair 440     N4401                  (c/n  483)

                                  

                                     In 1972 Wright received CAB certification as a scheduled interstate carrier and added two Convair
                                     440s to its modest fleet of Riley Herons and Twin Otters.  Service was still limited to the Cleveland-
                                     Detroit run.    The two aircraft were ex Executive Airlines machines which had been repossessed by
                                     the First National Bank of Boston.   N4401, seen in the shot above by Bob Garrard at Cleveland's
                                     Burke Lakefront Airport was originally Mohawk Airlines' 'Airchief Black Hawk'.   Both CV 440s
                                     were sold off when the airline acquired Convair 600s.
