                                         This historic shot is from the archives of the Anchorage Museum of History & Art and was taken
                                         by Noel Wien himself.   It depicts the two aircraft with which Wien Alaska Airways began services;
                                         the Stinson SB-1 Detrioter and NC10002, the Hamilton H-45 Metalplane seen outside the company
                                         hangar in 1929.   The Detroiter was the former Wilkins Expedition "Detroit New 2".  Wien merely
                                         changed the name on the fuselage and left the underwing titling intact.  This aircraft .is shown again
                                         below in a photograph from Robert W. Steven fabulous publication  "Alaskan Aviation History"
                                         (Polynyas Press, 1990).
