Thompson Aeronautical Corporation  Stinson SM-1D Detroiter

                                     

                                         Thompson Aeronautical; Corporation was founded early in 1928 and won the air mail bid from the
                                         route from Bay City, Michigan to Chicago (CAM 27).   This was later extended to Detroit and
                                         Cleveland.  The airline operating arm of Thompson became a subsidiary of the parent company in
                                         1931 and became Transamerican Airlines.   Interestingly the 'TAC'; logo seen on the fuselage of
                                          the Detroiter above was retained after the renaming to Transamerican. .   Thompson was acquired
                                          by American Airways in 1932.
