In July 1926 Stout Air Services began services using the three-engined Ford 4-AT-B from
Detroit to Chicago and Detroit to Cleveland, soon extended to Buffalo.  It changed its dba
name to Stout Air Lines.  The Fords were the largest airliners in the United States at that time.
In April 1929 Stout Air Services was acquired by United Aircraft and Transport Corporation
although continued to operate under the Stout name but was merged into National Air Trans-
port in 1930 and later became the newly formed United Air Lines.   Photo via Ford Motor Co.
