National Airlines  Lockheed L188 Electra  N5014K            (c/n  1148)

                                          

                                                 National were an early operator of the Allison 501 turboprop powered Electra, putting them into
                                                 service in the summer of 1959 (about the same time that Western did).    Two liveries are shown
                                                 on this page.  The upper shot shows the original "Airline of the Stars" scheme.  This shot was by
                                                 Tom Modlin and is presented here courtesy of the Jennifer Gradidge collection.  The lower image
                                                 of N5006K shows the revised livery adopted in 1960 when the DC-8s were put into service. This
                                                 shot was taken by Douglas Olson at Miami, circa 1960 and also comes from the Jennifer Gradidge
                                                 collection.  Both Electras were sold off to Pan Aero International Corporation in 1968 and led                      
                                                 varied careers after that.
