American Airways
Pitcairn PA-6 Super-Mailwing NC7866
(c/n 5)

American Airways (ancestor of today's
American Airlines) was formed on 25 January 1930
from a myriad of small airlines controlled by AVCO (the Aviation
Corporation). Not all of the
aircraft owned by these companies was
repainted with American Airways insignia. This Super-
Mailwing was from the Colonial Division,
specifically from Colonial Western Airways (whose
inscription appears on the forward
fuselage) and which operated air mail route CAM 20.
