                                                      American Airways (ancestor of today's American Airlines) was formed on 25 January 1930
                                                      from a myriad of small airlines controlled by AVCO (the Aviation Corporation).  Not all of the
                                                      aircraft owned by these companies was repainted with American Airways insignia.   This Super-
                                                      Mailwing was from the Colonial Division, specifically from Colonial Western Airways (whose
                                                      inscription appears on the forward fuselage) and which operated air mail route CAM 20.
