Allegheny Airlines Fairchild F-27J  N2703J           (c/n  114)

                                          
            
                                                 Allegheny were somewhat late in ordering prop-jet airliners.  Of course, they had their converted
                                                 Convair 580s, but did not get their F-27s until late in 1965.   In the event these were soon eclipsed
                                                 by the pure jets and this one only remained in service until 1968 when it was sold in to GNA in
                                                 Canada as CF-GNG.   It was written off in a crash at at Inovik on 20 Dec 1969.  The above
                                                 image is from Fairchild Aircraft, and shows the aircraft in pristine condition.
