Alaska Airlines Boeing 727-290  N290AS                        (c/n  21510)

The hugely successful (and popular with passengers) stretched 727 was put in operation by
Alaska in 1978 and with it came the distinctive blue "Eskimo face" motif.   (This scheme was
later expanded to include a green Totem Pole, a purple Onion Domed Building, and a red
Prospector).   I personally consider them rather ugly, but to each his own.......  The above
image came from a postcard of the era.  N290AS was withdrawn from Alaska's fleet in 1993.
