VH-UUP  Short S.16 Scion   (c/n S.776)

As I was loading this photograph I noticed the great similarity between the Short Scion and the
Tugan (Wackett) Codock and Gannet designs.   Did Lawrence get some inspiration from the
neat little Shorts design?    Power was supplied by two 90 hp Pobjoy Niagara engines.   This
aircraft was owned by the legendary S. D. (Sid) Marshall at the time this photograph was taken
Bankstown in 1954.   By the way, note the two photographs attached to the nose.  These
depict H.M. The Queen and H.R.H. Prince Phillip.  They were merely stuck on (as I recall it)
with duct tape!   This aircraft was actually the third production Scion and was first flown as
                                   G-ACUX.
