                                        This Avian was first registered to aviation legend Les Holden of Sydney in December 1928.
                                        The above image, from the A.J. Perier collection (courtesy of the State Library of NSW)
                                        depicts Les standing alongside the brand new machine.   In 1931 the Avian was registered
                                         to Aircrafts Pty Ltd of Brisbane (leased?), although a year later it was back in Holden's hands
                                         and taken to New Guinea to form the nucleus of his Holden's Air Transport Services Ltd fleet,
                                         based in Salamaua.    The photo below is from the Dave Eyre collection and shows the Moth
                                         now as VH-   VH-UIV crashed in New Guinea in September 1933 and was written off.
