VH-UIR  de Havilland D.H.60G Gipsy Moth               (c/n  894)

                               

                                      This Moth was delivered to Qantas in in February 1929, although sold the following month to
                                      the similarly named (although totally different) Queensland Air Navigation Ltd in whose check-
                                      ered fin and rudder livery it is seen here.   Photo from the John Oxley Library, State Library of
                                      Queensland collection.   Qantas must also have been some sort of D.H. dealer in those days since
                                      they bought it back on 9 February 1931 only to sell it again two days later to a private owner in
                                      Beaudesert, Queensland.   Following a couple of other owners in NSW, VH-UIR was sold in
                                      New Zealand in August 1934 becoming ZK-ADG.
