G-AUFJ  de Havilland D.H.60 Moth                        (c/n    ?)

                               

                                     This Moth was a Qantas constructed machine, assembled in 1926.  It was sold to A.J. Murphy
                                     a dentist, of Miles, Queensland in 1929.   He, along with a passenger were killed in a crash on
                                     the property of Herbert Rayner, some 18 miles from Miles on 19 August 1930.   Despite the
                                     official register indicating that it had received its VH-  markings by that time, clearly these had
                                     not been painted on, as can be seen in the shot above of the wreckage from the John Oxley
                                     Library, State Library of Queensland collection.
