VH-WHT Piper PA-22-108 Colt                           (c/n  22-9314)

                                 

                                     This aircraft is still current, so there must be better shots of it available somewhere, although I doubt it
                                     is still in its original Piper livery    .   The above photo was taken by Alan Knight early one morning at
                                     Narrabri, NSW in 1964.          The Colt had been imported in March 1962 and went straight to the
                                     Narrabri Aero Club.   Alan reports: “I did all my primary training in this Piper Colt.      It had
                                     the grand indicated airspeed at cruise of 78 knots.   One day I flew VH-WHT north from
                                     Narrabri to Moree for a service. A fierce northerly was blowing and I noticed the cars
                                     below on the Newell Highway overtaking me!”
