VH-TLA     Lockheed 188 Electra     "John Eyre"                                   (c/n 1061)

                                 

                                        TAA operated three Electras.  These photos show three variations of a theme on the first of
                                        them.  .  (i)  Above, circa 1967 at Essendon, from the Peter Gates Collection.  (The Morris
                                        Minor van would be worth a bob or two today).    (ii) immediately below, also from Peter's
                                        collection, a Lockheed Aircraft Corp photo-op shot of -TLA in the short-lived original livery,
                                        soon the be replaced with "TAA  The Nation's Jetline". titling and (iii) at the foot of the page
                                        from the archives of the Civil Aviation Historical Society of SA (via Nigel Daw) an image
                                        of -TLA at Adelaide , circa 1962 with the ghastly day-glo orange tail.      It remained with
                                        TAA until 1972, going then to Royal Air Lao as XW-PKA, basically for spare parts to
                                        keep XW-PKB running. It was scrapped at Seletar, Singapore in late 1975.
