VH-TJS  Douglas DC-9-31                               (c/n  47550)

                               

                                      The above shot in original T-tail markings is from the Macarthur Job collection, probably taken
                                      at Tullamarine Airport,   Melbourne.  VH-TJS was delivered in April 1971, and initially named
                                      'Peter Warburton'.  Later changed to 'Douglas Mawson'.       Greg Banfield caught it on short
                                      finals into Mascot in January of 1986 (below) wearing the then TAA livery.         It later carried
                                      Australian Airlines titling when TAA changed its name.  In September 1989 it was sold to ABX
                                      Air Inc in the US as N944AX (dba Airborne Express) and converted to a freighter.      Gary C.
                                      Orlando took a photo of it as such at Moline Quad City International Airport in February 2003
                                      (foot of page).  In 2010 it went to DHL Express although appears (2012) to be no longer current.
