VH-SSM Cessna 180
Skywagon
(c/n 32489)

This Skywagon is registered in
the Super Spread Aviation series regos, but was owned by Air
Mist when
Geoff Goodall took the above shot at Parafield in September 1966.
Hence I will
not list it under the Super
Spread sub-series. Geoff's shot was taken late in the day as the
air-
craft was returning from a spraying sortie. This Skywagon was
originally a Mafair machine and
operated in Dutch New Guinea
as JZ-PTE. Super Spread acquired it in January 1963 and it
subsequently passed to Air Mist. It ended up with Norwest Air
Charter at Smithton, Tasmnia
and, like most of their fleet, had a short
life . On 21 November 1970 it had engine
failure on
takeoff from Couta Rocks, on the rugged west coast of Tasmania,
crashied, overturned and was
destroyed by fire. The 4 occupants all escaped.
