VH-SNE  Cessna 170A                                 (c/n  19861)

170As were not that common in Australia.   John Wheatley saw -SNE above around 1970 whilst
Greg Banfield's shot with it in the same livery was at Bankstown in January 1969 (below).  Much
later, in August 1998, Tony Arbon took a photo of it (bottom of page) at Redcliffe, Queensland.
The Cessna was first registered on 11 February 1959 to C..A. Holmes of Inverell, NSW, ex
N1285D.      It had a series of owners, mainly in the NSW wheatbelt , and crashed at Gunnedah,
NSW in August 1976.  It apparently remained inoperative then for some sixteen years when it was
restored to the register (in October 1992).       Following a couple more owners in NSW it was
sold back the U.S. as, oddly, N1288D.  (I assume its original rego had been passed to another
                                      aircraft and this was close).
