VH-RSD (2)   de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth               (c/n DHA806)

Rare shot of the Royal Aero Club of NSW's Tiger VH-RSD at Bankstown in the late 1950s from
The Collection (1234-1914).   Ex A17-656, this was the second Tiger to bear this registration, and
it was, in fact, among the last of the RAAF Tiger Moth disposals sold from the Tocumwal storage
base in March 1958.   It was registered VH-RSD by the club that same month.   Unusually, it had
spent a short time in civil life previously when the RAAF released it to the new Government airline
TAA in November 1946 to become VH-AXU for evaluation of pilots applying to join the airline.
It was handed back to the RAAF the following year and returned to military pilot training duties at
Point Cook as A17-656 again.    When sold by the club in June 1960 it went to Lawrence Eng-
ineering & Sales at Camden, NSW and became VH-PSD, an identity it still flies under today.
