VH-PKN  Cessna 172F Skyhawk                                   (c/n  17253149)

                                     

                                         VH-PKN was first registered to Rex Aviation at Bankstown as a new stock machine in August 1965.
                                         When photographed above in May 1967 it was at Jerilderie, NSW,  in from neighboring Cootamundra,
                                         NSW where it was based by owners Masling Aviation.   By October 1969 it had crossed the continent
                                         (below) and was at Perth's Jandakot airport, being owned at the time by Southern Cross Aviation, and.
                                         was entrant # 19 in that year's annual WA air trials.   It is back in the east nowadays, though, and is
                                         owned by a company in Broadwater, NSW. Above and below photos via Geoff Goodall.   Finally, at
                                         the foot of the page is a shot by Clive Lynch at Merimbula in 2004 showing -PKN as the winner of
                                         'The Ugliest Paint Job' award (well, it would have been, if there were such a contest).     What were
                                         they thinking of?
