                                              This stretched Cherokee is seen above in a shot by John Wheatley at Alice Springs in the early
                                              1970s       The image below, taken at Warracknabeal, Victoria in April 1967 is from the Geoff
                                              Goodall collection and shows it when it was brand new and had only just been registered (29
                                              March 1967).  It was a demonstrator for Moorabbin based Piper dealers Pipeair Pty Ltd    It
                                              wound up being based at Bullo River Station in the Northern Territory and was wrecked in a
                                              forced landing due to engine failure near Daly River Mission on 18 February 1974 when it struck
                                              several large (and rock hard) ant hills.
