VH-EDM (2)  Cessna 180A Skywagon                         (c/n  50012)

                                  

                                        This 180 had had a long succession of priors before becoming VH-EDM in April 1962.   Built as
                                        N9714B it was re-registered N347TC in the US before being exported to the UK as G-APYJ.
                                        It then spent time in Eire from July 1960 to April 1961 as EI-ALO before being restored back in
                                        the UK.  In January 1962 it left for Australia although was not entered into the Australian civil
                                        register until April of that year, as stated above.  It took part in the 1964 Ansett Air Race, and
                                        Greg Banfield captured it (above) during the overnight stop at Bankstown on 29 March 1964.
                                        A month later it was re-registered VH-KAI to make the rego -EDM available for a Cessna 210A
                                        (which itself had previously been registered VH-KAI).
