VH-CXY  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth                        (c/n  LES10)

                                   

                                         This Tiger was one of those manufactured by Lawrence Engineering Pty Ltd at Camden, NSW
                                         in the early 1960s from bits and pieces.  It was entry No 1 in the 1964 Brisbane to Adelaide
                                         R.M. Ansett Air Race.  Clearly it did not finish No.1!   Having said that, it did make it to Adelaide,
                                         as evidenced by the photo above by contestant Richard J. Maclean.  Another variation of a theme
                                         appears below in this photograph by Greg Banfield taken during the December 1974 Point Cook,
                                         Victoria air show.  Finally, Barry Maclean took a shot of it (below) at an air show at Avalon in the
                                         1990s.  VH-CXY is still currently on the register.
