                                Operated by Islandair, which would one day evolve into Qantas subsidiary Sunstate Airlines, the
                                Cherokee Six was used to fly tourists to Fraser Island. It was at the Orchid Beach airstrip on that
                                island that –CIA crashed on November 27, 1976 and was written off. It had been on the register
                                since September 1966.
