VH-BAK Avro 652A Anson 1

Poor,
but very rare image from the Geoff Goodall collection of a Townsville
& Country Airways
Anson loading at Cloncurry in 1947. This
Anson operator flew long distances to outback north
Queensland towns as far west
as Mount Isa. VH-BAK suffered an undercarriage collapse on
landing at Julia Creek on 4
January 1948 badly damaging the wing. It was stripped for
parts
and the fuselage trucked back to the company base in
Townsville. TACA's services were taken
over by ANA using a DC-3.
