VH-AXP  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth                  (c/n  DHA106)

                                     

                                         This Tiger came to grief when it crashed near  Ranelagh Guest House, Mr. Eliza, Victoria on
                                         9 July 1947.  Engine failure caused the pilot to attempt to land in a clearing, but he overshot
                                         and landed in trees.  Neither pilot nor passenger suffered serious injuries, but the Tiger was
                                         written off.  The above print is from the Melbourne Argus of 10 July 1947.  The aircraft had
                                         originally been civilianized on September 1946, ex A17-109.
