VH-AXA  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth            (c/n  DHA52)

                                    

                                        In this image, courtesy of the National Library of Australia collection, the registration
                                        -AXA can be discerned under the port wing.     This photo was taken by K. Dicker
                                        circa 1945 and shows Father John Glover at the controls.  It was used in New Guinea
                                        to transport the priest to the far flung limits of his Diocese.   In 1949 the VH-AX series
                                        were deemed by DCA to be prohibited regos and, as a consequence, this machine was
                                        re-registered  VH-BXA on 16 April 1949.  It was formerly A17-55 as a RAAF trainer
                                        during WW II     It was withdrawn from use in 1961.
