VH-AWD (2) Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee                         (c/n  28-21633)

VH-AWD was delivered new in July 1966 to Premiair Aviation of Wagga, where David Carter
photographed it (above) on Good Friday, 1970.  Premiair was owned by Don Kendell  who the
following year started Kendell Airlines.      This company  went on to become a major regional
airline (my good mate, Richard Maclean was a captain with them) and was eventually taken over
by Ansett.     By 1976, VH-AWD had changed hands to Smithy’s Flying Services, still at Wagga.
It was cancelled from the register after being damaged in an accident near Underbool, Victoria on
                                  August 7, 1982.
