VH-AVR  (1)  de Havilland D.H.82A Tiger Moth                  (c/n  82768)

This Tiger was on the strength of the Broken Hill Aero Club when this shot, by M. Dillon (via the
archives of the South Australian Air Museum) was taken in the 1950s.  It looks as though it has
sustained some serious wind damage.  An original de Havilland Hatfield-built Tiger, it was one of
those which was never given an A17- serial, but remained for the duration of the war in its RAF
serial of R4836.    It was withdrawn from use in May of 1954 and underwent a restoration, re-
emerging as the second Tiger to bear the rego VH-BAM in 1958.     As such it was written off in
a crash at Lake Cargellino, NSW in September 1962.
