VH-ADS (2) Auster J/5B Autocar
(c/n 2947)

This shot, from
the Bob Neate collection is the only one I have been able to glean of
the second
VH-ADS. The
photo was taken at Wagga, NSW in August 1954 while the aircraft was
taking
part in the Redex Air
Trial which flew Sydney-Brisbane-Darwin-Alice Springs-Adelaide-Wagga-
Sydney. The
Autocar was entered by Guinea Airways, Adelaide who had purchased it
new in
September 1952 for light charter, dingo
baiting and aerial surveys from the airline's Adelaide base.
That's Guinea
Airways senior pilot Captain N. S. "Nobby" Buckley handling the
refuelling, who
flew it solo in the trial. Two
months later Guineas sold -ADS to Bush Pilots Airways at Cairns
with whom it
became VH-BPA.
