VH-ADB  de Havilland D.H.94 Moth Minor               (c/n  94077)

                                 
                                   

                                      The above photo, from the Geoff Goodall collection was taken at Maylands, Perth in February
                                      1940 when this Moth Minor was brand new and had just been imported for the Royal Aero
                                      Club of WA.  It looks like a CofA image.  The aircraft was used in the embryo civil flying training
                                      scheme to train pilots for the RAAF.   It had a very short life, crashing in a Perth suburb on 20
                                      March 1940.  Oddly the picture below appeared in the Sydney Morning Herald for 23 March
                                      1940 (it may also have been in the Perth papers) and was, the SMH proudly claimed "air mailed"
                                      over to them.   VH-ADB had dived into a paddock near Dunreath Golf Club, and the RACWA
                                      instructor, J. Tudor-Evans and his RAAF Cadet A.J. Macpherson were both killed.
